I recently finished Grace D. Li’s bestselling debut, PORTRAIT OF A THIEF, and couldn’t help the charged thrill of excitement at the implications. Art heists are making a comeback! And not just any art heists; we’re talking about capers that celebrate culturally significant artwork that has something powerful to say about society.

My latest novel, DALI MUST DIE, is an art heist rom com about an art thief who falls for her mark. Kind of like Kill Bill, if Kill Bill were a genderqueer rom com caper. The story celebrates marginalized Surrealist artists who challenged the patriarchal, hetero-normative status quo with provocative, gorgeous images of what true equality actually looks like. Even though it’s bloody, the story is filled with laugh-out-loud romance and plenty of feminist huzzahs! Let’s hear it for inspiring art and the compelling thieves who trick their way into our hearts!
